The brief: Creating a new brand icon for a popular beachfront bistro.
The context: Located closely to Denmark, at the northernmost shore of the North Frisian island Sylt, BUHNE 16 is one of the most beloved summer hotspots and holiday destinations in this region. Starting in 1981 with just a small beach hut right in front of the sea, this local family-run business became the ultimate hangout for sunseekers and beachlovers over the recent years. This place bursts with peoples and vitality during summer season, providing regional seafood, finest wines and a variety of activities like annual longboard festivals, live concerts and summer BBQ`s. Rental surf and SUP- boards are available, as well as all sorts of beach toys for kids and toddlers. Beside it`s popularity, the owners of the venue do all their best to keep alive a relaxed surfers vibe, respecting the nature and protecting the purity and spirit of this unique place. The name BUHNE 16 relates to it`s map location, which is beach section 16.
What I did: My challenge on this project was to create a bold, contemporary and recognizable brand visual. Key was the use of the number16, while experimenting with location related elements like waves and dunes. Another focus was the ability to implement the logo to a range of Buhne 16 home brand products, available at the beach store as well on the webstore. The new brand logo was launched successfully in 2007.
