MILLER GENUINE DRAFT

MILLER GENUINE DRAFT

The brief:  Refresh of a Beer label.

The context: London based brand experts Seymourpowell were commissioned for the relaunch of the iconic Miller Genuine Draft range and asked for my assistance in rejuvenating some of the main label design elements.

What I did: I recrafted the eagle wings shape and head details, as well as the hops, barley and rope design elements.

GUT HERRMANNSBERG

GUT HERMANNSBERG

The brief: Development of new identity icon.

The context: The history of this Bavarian wine estate dates back to the year 1902, when the Prussian state founded the domaine and purchased the first areas of land. In 1903, the first Riesling vines were planted. Gut Hermannsberg today owns a 30-hectare vine area with all land classified as ‘Great Site’, ranking among Riesling’s best wine-growing areas in the world. In 2010, under new ownership, the former state domaine changed its name to Gut Hermannsberg and underwent a modernization and rebranding.

Recently, some of their Rieslings received highest praise, when Karsten Peter, estate manager and cellarmaster of Gut Hermannsberg, was chosen Winegrower of the Year by Diners Club Magazine, named „Rising star of the Year“ by acclaimed Wine expert Stuart Pigott and rated with top reviews in the Gault Millau Wineguide.

What I did: Munich based brand & identity expert Isabel Steuler from studio Treedesign asked me to develop a coat of arms-like identity icon during her working process of the complex rebranding. As reference to the estates Prussian heritage, I created a crowned, wing spreading eagle, combined with a crest like frontal facade depiction of the estates old cellar building.

URSA

URSA

The brief: Redrawing of iconic polar bear key visual

The context: The URSA/Grupo Uralita is Europe`s leading thermal insulation brand with a vast array of special products. The Germany based creative brand strategists at Peter Schmidt Group/BBDO were responsable for the makeover. Unhappy with the rather grim look and closed and frozen body posture shown in the old icon, they called me to do some optimizations.

What I did: Main focus while redrawing this icon was about to add impact & modernity whilst giving the bears a friendlier and more outgoing appearance.

Concept & branding: Peter Schmidt Group BBDO

PIELROJA TABACO

PIEL ROJA

The brief: Redrawing and modernisation of a tobacco brand icon.

The context: The Pielroja tobacco brand has its roots in Colombia, dating back to the year 1924. Just one of many tobacco brands under the roof of manufacturer Colombiana de Tabaco, Pielroja was the best sold , most popular and the only one that survived so many years. The original „red skinned“ Indian chief was drawn by Colombia`s beloved cartoon artist Ricardo Réndon (1894 -1931), later modified several times. In 2005, ColTabaco merged with PMI. The design team at studio TheBrandUnion asked me to provide a re-freshed, modernized redrawing for the Pielroja relaunch on the European market.
Branding, packaging & idea TheBrandUnion for Phillip Morris

What I did: The goal was to exercise a very cautious and pecise redraw of all lines, cleaning up bits and parts, to tweak elements in the feather hat and the indian chief`s face, in order to provide a printable logo artwork. As this logo is already so well known and cherished, this was less about a new logo creation, more an act of preservation.
